Stainless Steel Strength

Stainless steel fasteners supplied by Grove Components is either A2 or A4 (unless otherwise described) and are fabricated from high quality components.

Most of the bolts are A2-70, having an average strength of 700 MPa (Mega Pascals)

A2 Austenitic Stainless Steel having an 18% Chromium content and an 8% Nickel content (termed as 18/8).

A4 stainless steel fasteners (which have a 3% Molybdenum content for increased corrosion resistance in marine applications) - termed 18/8/3.

It is always advisable to use a lubricant when fitting stainless steel threads to minimise GALLING sometimes called COLD WELDING, when the threads lock together as if welded.
